Well we headed off on our first cruise, me with great excitement
and Scott with excitement but with some trepidation as well, how was he going
to go on something that he can't get off when he wanted to, was he going to be
bored?? Me, I had no issues I would be
quite happy lying around reading for the cruise, yes I know that surprises you
all lol.
Nathan, Lauren, Lance and Jayden came down to see us off and
when we got to Circular Quay, we were surprised with Bruce coming down to see
us off. our first impression of the ship
was that it was huge, they are massive when you are close to them. We made our way upstairs to check in and were
able to do this with Katherine, who was one of our YSA girls from convention
and she works for the cruise line. We
got our photos taken and then we were given our Sail and Sign Cards, we went
through customs with no problems and then onto the ship.
We worked our way to our cabin to check it out, as we hadn't
been on a ship before we didn’t know what to expect. We had taken the advice from our season
cruises, Bruce and Carol, and booked an internal room. we were pleasantly surprised with the size of
the room and the bathroom.
As per Katherine's advice, we made our way to the adults
only area, the Serenity deck to have a look around. This area was below the slides and water area,
some of the kids that were on the ship were taking advantage of the great
weather and the water slides.
We set sail around 6 and another friend of ours, Lance, was
at Mrs Macquarie's chair and took lots of photos of the ship as it sailed out
of the harbour for us. These photos were added to our huge collection of photos
that we have to remember our journey. It
was beautiful sailing out of the harbour, looking back at the city with the sun
setting behind it. I have said it before
and will say it over and over again, we have one of the most beautiful harbours
in the world.
The above picture is where lance was taking all his shots from, and if you squint your eyes you will be able to just make him out on the edge of the rocks.
We sailed out through the heads, which the wind picked up, but what a sight, plenty of sail boats out taking advantage of the windy conditions.
And so the fun begins........................
